Recenze Backstreet Battalion:

Review Backstreet Battalion:
Five piece band from US city of Pittsburgh released through Rebellion their second full length (CD and LP version as maxi EP) called Armoured Saints. On CD you may listen to eight songs (In the Dirt is rerecorded piece from the first album, Never Heard is also from the first album and Unemployed and Foreign Invaders are just on CD version) of US brickwall Oi! with rough vocal and sing-along refrains. You will know how the band sounds after hearing first piece Armored Saints or in song Fight (with great metal solo at the end). They also know how to play more melodic stuff like in Never Heard which is more into rock´n´roll again with great metal solo at the end. Next great piece is Let´s Break the Law Tonight, which sounds like from Bonecrusher or Maddog Surrender. I have just electronic copy so no more info about the lyrics but you may guess from the titles ? anthem of the band, riots in the streets, problems with unemployment, fights, etc? CD version is limited to 250 copies, LP to 300 copies (two colors). Fans of US bands will like this album at all.

Review American Oi:
Iron City Hooligans are around for quite a while already, but it took them until 2012 to release their self-titled debut album. After that the band faced some line-up struggles with bandmembers come and go, but now it?s 2014 and the band is about to release their brand new mini-album ?Armored Saints? on Rebellion Records on both 12? maxi-EP and MCD.

Last year I was already thrilled to have these guys on board for the ?Promote & Provoke? compilation I did, and their more recent addition (?Revolution?) to the ?It?s What We Know? compilation crushed most of their previous work. Needless to say my expectations of any upcoming new recordings of these Pittsburgh skins became pretty high. And now, pretty much out of nowhere, a new slab of vinyl (and CD) is coming out in a few days!

What you get on ?Armored Saints? are five brand new tracks, a re-recording of crowd favorite ?In The Dirt? and two more tracks (?Unemployed? and ?Foreign Invaders?) if you buy the CD version of this record. But first the five new tracks, because they blew me away! Without a doubt I can say Iron City Hooligans is rockin? in their best line-up to date on this record. The rhythm sections sounds tight as hell while those guitarlicks and solo?s on some of these tracks are just plain sick! That being topped off with the rough and tough leadvocals of Tyler backed up by the rest of his bandmates for the gangvocals make this one solid, can I say comeback(?), album!

As said, besides five brand new songs, there is also a re-recording of one of my favorite Iron City Hooligans songs ?In The Dirt? on here and the CD contains the two earlier mentioned tracks both from an earlier recording session which you can hear because the production sounds different. But what does it matter, either version kicks major ass in both music and the awesome artwork provides by Ramon Bdzr! Welcome back ICH!
